The wireless industry has set up a $6 billion legal fund to fight health-related lawsuits that are just now beginning to emerge. FCC and FDA not much help. You might wonder where the FCC stands on cell-phone radiation. On the one hand they say, "There are no known risks from exposure to radio frequency radiation." But then they also say, "High levels of electromagnetic energy can permanently damage biological tissue, including DNA." But perhaps most telling is this remark: "The FCC does not have the expertise to determine radiation exposure guidelines." And get this: under current law, "the FDA does not review the safety of radiation-emitting consumer products such as wireless phones before they can be sold," as of course it's required to with new drugs or medical devices. That's where we are today. But things could change soon... The cost of a cover up is always greater than fixing the problem.

Lloyd's of London says "NO" to cellular radiation insurance. To give you an idea of just how serious this problem is, Lloyd's of London, perhaps the most expert insurer when it comes to assessing long-term risk, will no longer indemnify their wireless industry customers against cell-phone related medical lawsuits. And for good reason... Cell-phones emit two types of microwave radiation. The antennae emit RF or radio frequency radiation, and the circuitry and battery emit ELF, or extremely low frequency radiation. California to Issue Strong Warning

After spending more than $7 million on a major study, the California Department of Health Services will soon issue the strongest warning to date on the potential health risks associated with exposure to power frequency electromagnetic fields (EMFs). The California study's researchers concluded that they were inclined to believe EMFs are a cause of childhood leukemia, adult brain cancer, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and miscarriages. In Britain, Sir William Stewart, Chief Scientific Advisor for Parliament and the head of a committee studying the cellular radiation issue, stated, "We conclude that it is not possible at present to say that exposure to radio frequency radiation, even at levels below national guidelines, is totally without potential harmful health effects." Research funded by the New York Heart Research Foundation showed that "microwave radiation caused chemical changes in the brain similar to those present in cancerous and pre-cancerous situations, which were still measurable 7 days after one 3 minute cell-phone call."
